Although the best age to start saxophone classes varies depending on the physical and perceptual structure of a student, admissions generally start from 9 years of age.
Classes take place as one-on-one private lessons in 45-minute sessions and are reinforced with group solfège classes.
The saxophone is a member of the woodwind family with an octave range of two. It consists of different timbral areas with the combination of the mouthpiece, neck, body and bell.
The purpose of the saxophone education is to obtain the right sounds by playing all music passages based on the rhythm, in line with controlled breathing. Most commonly, the saxophone training begins with “alto saxophone”.
The saxophone education is built upon art music and jazz music.
Students improve their musical ear and literacy through attending solfège classes throughout their education. They acquire the skills to showcase their knowledge in end-of-semester recitals and concerts organized at the end of this academic education.
